BRAVO, MAGMA

 

OTTAWA (August 17, 2002) -- The Association for Higher Education and Development (AHEAD) wishes to extend its most sincere thanks to MAGMA for providing a location to host the AHEAD website www.aheadonline.org.  The AHEAD website is now hosted on a virtual web server (VWS) located in MAGMA’s world-class Internet Data Centre (IDC).

 

AHEAD is a non-profit, non-political organization, dedicated to capacity building of higher academic institutions. Through its three complementary programs, AHEAD supports the Medical Faculty of the Addis Ababa University by sending books and journals, operating a Bursary Program for outstanding students and sending training equipment for use by students.

 

Under the guidance of its Patron, the Honourable Senator Donald Oliver, and the support of a strong community of friends of AHEAD, the association has grown to become a model to many.  One of the vehicles that gave AHEAD an international exposure is the Internet. Through its popular website, AHEAD has also been able to mobilize, worldwide, individuals and groups committed to the development of education.

 

As an organization with no administration cost and entirely dependent on volunteers, the support from MAGMA is a significant resource for AHEAD. It will broaden its network, enhance its image and improve its communication.

 

The executive and Friends of AHEAD extend a resounding appreciation to MAGMA and we all say “Bravo” for being a model of corporate citizenship.
